E2MAS
Overview of the Energy Efficiency Monitoring and Analytics System (E2MAS)
Ever wondered about how you can improve the energy efficiency of your equipment while reducing its environmental impact?
Rising concerns about climate change and environmental regulations have made it increasingly important for the manufacturing industry to improve energy efficiency in its operations. However, most manufacturing companies today are only able to monitor aggregated energy consumption, without real-time visibility and analysis of energy efficiency.
With the Energy Efficiency Monitoring and Analytics System (E2MAS) developed by A*STAR’s Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech), companies can tap on its monitoring and analytics capabilities to assess the energy efficiency of their equipment in real-time and easily identify hotspots of excessive energy usage. These hotspots can then be analysed to determine actionable steps that can help companies achieve quantifiable improvement in energy efficiency.
Sanwa-Intec Asia Pte Ltd, a local SME that manufactures plastic products, has deployed E2MAS for its plastic injection moulding machines. The deployment was conducted through Sanwa-Intec’s system integrator partner, Iplast 4.0, which acquired necessary data from the company’s system for analytics. Over a period of one year, Sanwa-Intec has successfully increased its visibility on energy efficiency by 80 per cent, improved its energy efficiency by 20 per cent, and reduced its carbon footprint by 20 per cent.
3D Digital Twin

Want to optimise your manufacturing processes by monitoring them more efficiently?
A*STAR Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (A*STAR ARTC) has developed a 3D Digital Twin system, which taps on artificial intelligence (AI) and industrial internet of things (IIoT) technologies to offer smart, real-time energy monitoring and prediction for manufacturing processes.
Businesses can easily track the energy efficiency of different parts of their manufacturing lines to gain actionable insights using the energy efficiency monitoring dashboard, which is paired with live 3D simulations of the manufacturing line.
The system can be integrated with existing physical assets without the need to install power meters at every station, saving costs and time when it comes to resource management. It is also scalable to other applications such as waste and water management, offering a comprehensive solution for sustainable manufacturing.
