VISIT to A*STAR SINGAPORE IMMUNOLOGY NETWORK (SIgN) by A*STAR CE (Mr Beh Kian Teik) and ACE BMRC (Dr Lisa Ooi)

The visit started with a welcome by Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN) Executive Director (ED) and Assistant Chief Executive (ACE) Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) familiarizing with research activities in SIgN; followed by dialogue for both Chief Executive Officer (CE) and ACE BMRC to further engage with SIgN’s Principal Investigators (PIs) and Group Leader (GLs).
CE and ACE shared their vision going forward in scientific priorities, defining impact, and how they aim to reduce the bottlenecks and hurdles faced by researchers. They also emphasized the importance of Immunology in understanding human wellness and ailments and in clinical and biotech translations. A wide range of topics were discussed such as Grants, Entrepreneurship, Translational R&D, admin challenges and more. During the Q&A session, there were further clarifications and exchanges on A*STAR’s priorities for RIE2030.
In closing, CE emphasized that speed is essential in A*STAR R&D endeavours and urged each unit to help smoothen administrative and implementation processes.
The visit concluded with a group photo taking and more networking and open dialogue over refreshments.
